Identity Sharing Setup in MLXchange

New system feature can improve an office administrator’s efficiency and effectiveness.

As an office administrator or agent assistant, there may be times that you need to logon to MLXchange and assume the identity of another agent and perform any number of tasks as that agent. In order to allow this action to happen, yet also not violate rules prohibiting the sharing of IDs and passwords, MarketLinx (MLXchange) developers have added a new feature called "Identity Sharing". Identity Sharing allows active Members to login to MLXchange as themselves, and then assume the identity of another active Member if authorized by that user. When logged in as another Member, users of a shared identity can create CMAs and send reports as the agent they are logged in as. If you are an assistant to an agent, office or team, this new feature will be a great advantage to you!

To allow someone to share your Identity, you will need to "Invite" them using the following instructions.

Inviting someone to share your Identity:

  • Login to MLXchange as yourself;
  • Click on "Signed in as: your name" located at the top of the MLXchange screen. This will bring up the "Sign-in as Web Dialog" box;
  • Click on "Create New Shared Identity" link;
  • Type in the last name, first name or both of the agent you wish to add and click "Find";
  • Highlight the agent you want to add by clicking on it and click OK;
  • The agent should appear in the "You are currently sharing your identity with these members" window;
  • If needed, repeat this step to add another agent - up to 20;
  • To remove the agent highlight the agent in the "You are currently sharing your identity with these members" window and click on the "Delete Selected shared Identity".

Common questions regarding Identity Sharing:

How does the agent I shared my Identity with access it?

  • Have the agent login to MLXchange with there own ID and go to the "Signed in as" link and click on it to view the "Signed-in as Web Dialog" box for them to select the user to login in as.
  • When they are finished assuming your identity they go back to the signed-in as link and select "Myself" to go back to their own account.

What happens if I share my identity with an agent and they make a change I did not want to make?

  • They can make the change, but the change is recorded under the assuming agents’ personal ID.

With how many agents can I share my identity?

  • Identity sharing allows for up to 20 agents to be shared by one ID, while they can also simultaneously access the shared account.

What happens when an agent becomes inactive or moves to another office?

  • If an agent becomes inactive and has allowed you to share their identity you will not be able to assume their identity.
  • If an agent moves to another office that is not part of your firm you will not be able to assume his or her identity.
