TIP#1

When will MLXchange work with Windows Vista?

MLXchange will work with Vista/Internet Explorer 7 right now, provided there are some changes made to the default settings on Internet Explorer 7.

You will first need to disable "Protected Mode" in Internet Explorer, which is enabled by default, to allow installation of ActiveX. To disable "Protected Mode" follow the instructions below:

The following change needs to take place in Internet Explorer 7

  1. Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode" located in Internet Options. (This option is checked by default)

    • In Internet Explorer, go to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS
    • Click on the Security Tab
    • Locate "Enable Protected Mode" and uncheck it
    • Click "OK" twice until you return to the main window of Internet Explorer
    • Close all Internet Explorer windows

  2. Install all ActiveX components required for MLXchange

    • Click on the following link http://stwmls.mlxchange.com/tools/axinstall/axinstalltool.asp to open the ActiveX installation page.
    • Click the "Install" button. If prompted, click "Run" or "Install".  If an information window opens, click OK and locate the "Information Bar" which opens directly under the Main Menu bar of Internet Explorer and click "Install Blocked ActiveX". Click "Run" or "Install" whenever you are prompted during this installation.
    • You will need to click "Install" for each of the 10 components being installed
    • There will be a red check mark after each successfully installed component

Once all the ActiveX components are installed you can now "SIGN IN" to MLXchange. The first time you attempt to "SIGN IN", Internet Explorer will want to "Restart" - click OK.  When the MLXchange login box appears again, enter your MLS login credentials and click "SIGN IN". Internet Explorer will reload and MLXchange should open for your use.

Should you require further assistance with Vista/Internet Explorer 7, please contact MLS Tech Support @ 401-785-9898 option 3.

TIP#2

Every time I conduct a search for a client that wants 1.5 baths or more, I must enter a minimum of "1" into the BATHS field and then a minimum of "1" into the HALF BATHS field. This type of search will yield all of the homes that have 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 (or more) number of baths. However, it completely omits the homes that have 2, 3, 4 (or any even number) of baths. Why is that?

The reason you get incorrect results when searching by the Full Baths and Half Baths fields is because, since they are indeed separate fields, a property must meet both criteria produce a match. Thus entering criteria for Full AND Half eliminates any listings that had Full OR Half baths only.

When MLS was converting to MLXchange back in December of 2005, we recognized the limitations of searching using the two separate bath fields, noting that potential matches would often be missed. At that time, we added a new field to Single Family and Condo property types called ‘Total Baths”. This new field combines both Full and Half baths, so you only need to enter in one value to find properties with a combined total of baths that you desire.

For example: If you want to find houses that have at least 3 baths in any combination of full and half:

  1. Add the "Total Bath" field to your search using the "Add more search criteria" link located at the bottom left of the search window (if you use this field often, you can permanently add it to your search template by selecting "Save Template" from the "Action" list at the bottom left of the screen and follow the prompts).
  2. Using the "Advanced Search Options" drop down list, select one of the following options: a. "Minimum" to find the matches that have at least the specified number (or) b. "Maximum" to not exceed the number specified (or) c. "Between" to specify a range.
  3. Enter in the value(s) that meet your search specifications.
(***Note: When entering this value, a half bath is represented by “.1” rather than “.5”. For example if you are looking for a minimum of 1 1/2 baths, you would enter minimum 1.1 rather then 1.5.***)
  4. After all your criteria has been entered and you have added the "Total Baths" field, you should get the desired results.

TIP#3

When I register for multiple RIAR Education classes on-line, why do I have to pay for each one separately?

With the recent addition of a "Shopping Cart" to "My Account", you can now select multiple items and pay for them all at once. In order to register for multiple classes and pay at the end, use the following steps:

  1. From the on-line RIAR Education calendar, click on the "Click here to Register" link or login to "My Account" located at www.statewidemls.com and enter your ID and Password
  2. Select "Register for Classes"
  3. Locate the course you desire
  4. Select the class you would like to attend
  5. If the class is open, click the "Register for This Class" link
  6. To add this item to your "Shopping Cart" click the "Add to Cart" button located on the bottom-left of the screen
  7. To select an additional class, click on the “Register for More" link located on the lower left of the screen then follow steps 3 thru 7 until you have completed your class registration. (To delete a single class that is in your cart, simply click on the trash can icon next to the class. If you wish to remove all items from your cart, click on the "Empty Cart" link located on the lower right of the "Registration Cart" window.)

TIP#4

I have stopped receiving automatic email notifications of properties. Why?

If your office becomes inactive at any time for any reason, all of your client auto-notifications will be disabled. To reactivate these auto-notifications, you must enable each client individually as follows:

  1. 1) Login to MLXchange
  2. From the MLXchange “Home” page, select the "New Prospecting Matches" link found in the upper-left corner under “Matches”
  3. Place a check-mark next to the client/search to re-enabled
  4. Choose "Modify Search Settings" from the Action menu located in the lower-left area of the workspace, then select the green arrow
  5. Click on the "notification settings" tab along the top and re-enable the auto-notification (selecting any other options you may want to reactivate as well)

Repeat this process for each client that you wish to continue providing auto-notifications.

TIP#5

Why is it that photos I deleted from MLXchange still appear on RI Living?

When you delete an image (without immediately replacing it with a new one) in MLXchange, there is no automatic process to notify RI Living that photos have been deleted. If you plan on replacing the photo(s) there is no need to contact us! The replacement image(s) will overwrite the old images in RI Living and will appear with the next photo update.

If you delete a photo from MLXchange (and do not plan on immediately replacing it) and would also like it removed from RI Living, please forward the following information to deletedphotos@statewidemls.com.

  1. Agent ID
  2. Listing number
  3. Position of image(s) to be deleted (1-8).

Note: This process is ONLY for the removal of photos in RI Living that do not have replacements in MLXchange. We will not replace any photos directly in RI Living.
