MLS Tech Update- February 7, 2006

TIP#1

I receive a setup error when logging into MLXchange for the first time on any particular computer.

  1. Make sure you are logged into the computer with administrative rights
    (Note: this is administrative rights on the computer not on mlxchange)
  2. Locate the address bar (where you type in the name of the website where you want to go).
  3. Underneath the address bar you should see a yellow bar that says "This site might require the following active x control"
  4. Click anywhere on the bar and it will give you the option to "Install Active X control"
  5. Click on install on any prompts that come up.
  6. You will get the message that Internet Explorer needs to restart, just click OK
  7. Enter your password again and you should be able to login to the system.
***Note: As an alternative to the above steps you can install all of the active x controls at one time by going to http://stwmls.mlxchange.com/tools/axinstall/axinstalltool.asp and following the on screen instructions. This is recommended if you manage multiple office computers and will eliminate the problem for all other agents who may login to that computer.***

TIP#2

What phone numbers are used in MLXchange and on the customer flyer banner?

  1. The office number is from the office record and the agent phone is from the "home phone" field in the RIAR membership database.
  2. To change or add a phone number in addition to your office number you must make the change in the membership database.
  3. The membership database can be accessed at either of the following:
  4. Go to http://www.statewidemls.com and click on "My Account" in the upper right hand corner right above the mlxchange login icon.
  5. From inside MLXchange click on home in the upper left hand corner and then click on "MLS Resources" on the right hand side and click on "My Account".
  6. Enter your MLS Id and password and sign in.
  7. Click on personal information and change the phone number in the home phone field and click on submit for the changes to be saved. If you get an error after clicking on submit go back into the personal information and make sure you enter a zip code in the information for the home address.
  8. After the change is made it will change in MLXchange in an hour or two.

TIP#3

How do I add an extension to my office phone number on the customer flyer banner?

Update: 2/9/06 Members may now update their office phone extension through "My Account"
  1. Access "My Account" from the home page on MLXchange under MLS Resources or on the home page of www.statewidemls.com
  2. At either location click on the "My Account" link and enter your MLS ID and PASSWORD
  3. Click on the "Personal" Information” link
  4. Locate the "Office Ext" field right above "Change Password" in the Office information section
  5. Add/Modify your phone ext and click "Submit"
  6. Once entered into the membership database it will be sent to MLXchange thru the record update process and should be completed with in and hour or two.

TIP#4

How do I change my password for MlxChange?

  1. The membership database can be accessed at either of the following:
  2. Click on personal information and scroll down a little ways on the right hand side you will see the option "Change Password".
  3. Enter your new password in twice and hit submit and you should get a confirmation that your password has been changed.
  4. The new password change will take effect in and hour or two. Use your old password until it changes over.
